Why, the sun is shining! The air is sweet and fresh and the trees are green and beautiful, and the whole world is very pleasant and delightful.
What a lovely line to memorize for a play. Just reading it, I feel an overwhelming sense of joy. I`m acting the part of Princess Fluff in the production Queen Ziki of Ix. You might recognize it from L. Frank Baum`s book, which is a marvelous children`s story. Fluffy is so constantly happy; she is a perfect princess.
In the book, she is granted the wish to be happy. The thing that interests me is L Frank Baum’s definition of happiness. It is a rather ambiguous term. Often, we think of it as more of a giddiness, with a knack for being overly joyful at the most serious or even mournful moments. But Baum`s definition is much different and could be renamed contentment. Though Princess Fluff is often very happy, she is also capable of feeling emotions and even cries when granted happiness. The world isn`t perfect and neither are we, but we can still be content.
Performances are staring me in the face. There is so much to do. Lines to go over. Things to practice, and so little time, too. This moment, it is time to get started.
Wishing you all a lovely day filled with true contentment!
